A fully engaging Riesling with alluring perfumes and elegant structure, from sites in the Pipers Brook and Tamar Valley of northeast Tasmania, an inspiring interpretation of the steely, complex wines of Alsace. The vineyards are vertically integrated through a rigorous regimen of site selection, viticultural development and management. This style of Riesling bridges the gap between the traditional Aussie which proffers citrus, chalkiness and calico, as opposed to their French counterparts which exude floral scents and offer refined, fruity palate structures.

From vines planted in the 1990s, to estate vineyards in Tamar Valley and around Pipers Brook. The fully ripe expressions of West Tamar are balanced by the naturally high, flavoursome malic acidity derived from Pipers Brook, achieving a tight, refreshing and complex style. The vines are meticulously hand tended, maximizing exposure of the bunches to the sun, realizing harvests with the most intense flavours. A generously complex wine of remarkable intensity, courtesy of the natural skin tannins, so ideal with antipasto, oven roasted turkey or white game.

A pure expression of Riesling and an embodiement of the uniqueness at Polish Hill River, Merle is crafted by a Riesling specialist after collation of the finest fruit from each vintage. Named for the estate's matriarch Merle Pike, she knew that she was going to have her own label and was quietly chuffed about it. An intense and pure Riesling wine with refined citrus characters over a slatey mineral palate, successive vintages of Merle have been selected for service in Qantas First Class.

Picardy is a traditional Burgundian style of Chardonnay with impressive aromatics and profound fruit character. The wine possesses all requisite floral and fine grassy sour sob/ oxalis grass characters expected in a young Burgundy. Picardy offers great texture and solid structure with high acid and extraordinarily low pH whilst retaining perfect balance. Crafted from grapes grown to four clones of vine imported from France, selected over a decade of trials out of a field of several hundred, grown to some of the most illustrious vineyards in Burgundy.

The mineral rich hills of Beechworth are Shangri-la for the realization of big boned Chardonnay wines in the like of Chablis. The mere 1.2 hectares of Piano Piano's vineyard make for an excruciatingly low yielding site, quality of fruit however is exceptional, the vinification is decidedly Burgundian. New oak ferments and vineyard yeasts are essential to the raison d'être of Sophie's Block, a mouthfilling Beechworth style to match west coast langoustine or suckling pork, caramelled goose liver or delicately seared abalone.

The quality of fruit from Pewsey Vale Vineyard, higher up the contours of Eden Valley, is a reflection of altitude and low fertility, grey, sandy loam soils which prolong ripening late into the cool autumn. This longer season develops unique flavour profiles which are classic Pewsey Vale. Contours is Pewsey Vale's flagship, held back for five years under the estate cellars. The grapes themselves are picked from the oldest vines, established to contoured rows in 1962. This exceptional wine already shows signs of bottle development immediately upon release.

The Pewsey Vale property was first planted to Riesling by Joseph Gilbert in 1847. The site was later purchased by well known grazier Geoff Angas Parsons, who in 1961 invited his friend Wyndham Hill Smith to jointly develop the historic vineyard. They believed the site could produce delicate Rieslings in the Germanic style. High in the Eden Valley's low fertility, grey and sandy loam soils, a prolonged ripening late into the cool autumn season develops recognizably consistent flavour profiles, today known as classic Pewsey Vale.

Peter Lehmann is an international sensation at Riesling, having been declared Best Riesling in the World no fewer than five times at the London International. Named for Andrew Wigan who has been the maker of every Riesling bottled under the Peter Lehmann label since inaugural vintage.

Wigan affords enthusiasts a rare opportunity to experience the delights of a classic and mature Riesling wine. Eden Valley is home to Australia's greatest Riesling, first planted to the shallow, rocky soils of the higher Barossa ranges in the early 1850s. Time has revealed this place to be a natural home for Riesling, which many winemakers agree is the noblest white varietal. The mature Eden Valley vineyards produce wines with a unique sense of place. Each year Peter Lehmann classifies the very best, to hold back for extended ageing.

Peter Lehmann named Margaret after his wife, she is also an enthusiast of Semillon and outspoken advocate of all things Barossa. Small amounts are stored and matured at Lehmann's Tanunda Cellars for the discerning wine enthusiast who appreciates the delicious, rich, full flavoured characters of bottle aged Semillon. Margaret is crafted from the very best Semillon of vintage, precious parcels from a 1923 planting owned by the Fiebiger Family at Vine Vale and a 1936 planting owned by the Scholz family at Light Pass in the heart of the Barossa.

Tiers is a bottle aged Chardonnay vinified from fruit grown to a spectucalar site, the first Adelaide Hills vineyard to be planted in the twentieth century.

At 1670 feet above sea level, Hanlin Hill is magnificent for its higher elevation and superior exposure to the cooling afternoon sea breezes. Another great edition in a long succession of superb Clare Valley Rieslings from the distinguished Vineyard at Hanlin Hill.

From an almost perfect Riesling vineyard, careful pruning, sorting and selection, ensures that only the healthiest grapes are included. Bin A series Chardonnay is a pathfinder wine, fortuitous achievement of the consequential Penfolds white wine project. Reserve Bin A has evolved into a wine with a distinctive style, it remains an integral part of the Penfolds portfolio. Exclusively Adelaide Hills Chardonnay is sourced from up to eighty vineyards with a core provenance from ten elite cooler sites. Bin A is very much for the connoisseur, a highly suitable match bresaola and seaweed consomme, grilled Marron or crisply truffled skin chicken, Bin A demands a decant and is not for the faint of heart.

South Australia is well represented on prestigious international winelists for its icon Riesling wines, Valley Eden is at the very top of page. Formulated as part of the evolving Penfold white wine program, Bin 51 captures the very essence of the Eden Valley Riesling style. The region's high altitude and cool climate produces wines of great complexity and capacity for development. Bin 51 is bottled early to retain freshness, the definitive bone dry Riesling style with bright natural acidity, clear fruit aromas and wonderfully pristine, mouthfilling flavours.

As vines in the emerging Snowy Ranges Tumbarumba district of New South Wales come of age, Penfolds can stray outside their jurisdictions in South Australia to acquire outstanding quality harvests of estate grown fruit for the construction of a generously flavoured and tastefully oaked Chardonnay. A beguiling and elegant wine, grapefruit characters define a citrus acid core, structural and textural, juicy with lemon pith phenolics providing great mouthfeel and length of flavour. Yattarna is local indigenous meaning gradually, reflecting the time spent refining the cuvee before it's inaugural vintage. Bin number 144 is derived from the total number of trials undertaken in the wine's development. The aspiration and independence of mind that the late Max Schubert brought to Penfolds winemaking philosophy inspired the winery to embark on the project of creating a white wine that would one day rival the standards of Penfolds Grange. Special Bin A was originally crafted as a close sibling to Penfold's prestigious flagship Yattarna Chardonnay. Special Bins are made to showcase what the Penfolds team can achieve when they have access to small quantities of high quality material from exceptional vintage years. Special Bin A is crafted from a collation of the finest Adelaide Hills Chardonnay available to Penfolds.

Waipara River passes through a town of the same name on its course to Pegasus Bay, thirty minutes north of Christchurch. The vines enjoy a sheltered position near the sea, where warm days, cool nights and a dry autumn, result in a very prolonged ripening period. Pegasus Bay believe that patience and attention to detail are central to growing the most powerful fruit and vinifying the most compelling wines. Concentrated and rich, a backbone of tangy mineral and acid helps to dry out the palate all the way across to the zippy finish, lingering, spicey and dry.

Andreas Weiman was one of Polish Hill River's earliest settlers, he established a block of Riesling vines atop the choicest terroirs on the the Paulett estate property. He named the site Antonina, after his daughter. Today, the limited yields are crafted into a single vineyard selection, which yield what the Paulett winemaking team consider to be their very finest Riesling. Unpretentious and elegant, restrained power and a wonderful spectrum of citrus flavours throughout.

Neil Paulett is one of Clare Valley's most distinguished growers with decades of history in the winemaking industry. He hand picks and reserves stocks of Polish Hill River Riesling from outstanding vintages to mature quietly under the estate cellars for some years, to evolve and bloom into all those wonderful, inimitably aged Riesling expressions. Bottled in the August after vintage and kept under the Paulett cellars until current release, a rewarding experience alongside king george whiting, garfish, quenelles or white meat terrines.
